Two goals by Toledo’s Isabella Echeverri led the Rockets to a 3-1 victory over the Bobcats on Sunday at Chessa Field.

Echeverri scored a goal in the 19th minute to give Toledo a 1-0 lead going into halftime. The goal was a result of a free kick taken just outside the penalty box after an Ohio handball. Echeverri scored again in the 58th minute to double Toledo’s lead. Megan Connor passed the ball to Echeverri, whose shot found the back of the net.

Toledo’s Geri Siudzinski added a third goal for the Rockets in the 65th minute. The goal was assisted by Sophie Pohl.

“They were just more willing to fight,” Ohio coach Aaron Rodgers said of Toledo. “They were willing to put their bodies on the line to win the fifty-fifty balls and we were just second best in that all day.”

Ohio sophomore Lexi Milesky scored her fifth goal of the season in the 85th minute. Toledo committed a foul inside the penalty box, which led to an Ohio penalty kick. Milesky’s shot found the lower left corner of the net to make it 3-1.

Sunday was senior day for Ohio (6-12, 3-7 MAC). The team recognized seniors Rachel Fryan, Erin Feeney, Annie Beard, Tonya Frasik, Gabby Hausfeld, Liz Finley and Nicole Amari.

Ohio had a chance to score in the 21st minute. Carly Manso’s corner kick found Megan Niebuhr, whose header was saved out of bounds by goalkeeper Sam Tiongson.

“At this point going into the last game we’ve got to be more coachable and disciplined,” Rodgers said.

Ohio concludes the regular season on Thursday at 3 p.m. at Chessa Field when it takes on Kent State.

“If we win that game we’ll win more MAC games than we did last year,” he said. “ If you’re a senior you never want to go out on a loss.”
